Staff Multi-Factor Authentication

  1. If you haven’t already used or downloaded Microsoft’s Multifactor Authentication App please click here for instructions for both Android and iOS.
  2. Log on to your account using your University email and password.
  3. You will see this screen:  MFA prompt
  4. Follow the prompts (please refer to this Quick Reference Guide (opens in a new window) for more details.

How do I set MFA up for the first time?

Authenticate your account with the Microsoft mobile authenticator app or via text message/phone call. For further information please refer to the videos on the right-hand side or read this quick reference guide.

I am a VPN user, how do I set up and use MFA?

If you are a VPN user at Western, you will need to use MFA to log into the VPN for the first time please refer to the right-hand buttons on How to Set up MFA on your iOS or Android device.

am a Citrix user; how will MFA affect me?

There are two changes for Citrix users.

  1. It will be necessary to reestablish your favourites with MFA enabled. Your applications and desktop stay the same.
  2. You will be required to authenticate with MFA every time you to use Citrix.

My email and / or calendar authority is delegated to another person, is there anything I need to do?

No, nothing is affected as only the person logging onto their own account needs to authenticate.
