About CANR

Welcome to the Centre for Applied Nursing Research (CANR) located in the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research, (opens in a new window) Liverpool.

The Centre for Applied Nursing Research (CANR) was established in 1991 as a joint venture between the School of Nursing and Midwifery (opens in a new window), Western Sydney University (opens in a new window) and the South Western Sydney Local Health District (opens in a new window) (SWSLHD). CANR is accessible to all employees of SWSLHD and Western Sydney University and aims to promote research and professional development within the two communities.

CANR's purpose is to undertake research, and to facilitate and support collaborations between nurses and nurse academics that will generate research relevant to the clinical, health promotion and health education role of nurses, and provides a basis for evidence based practice within this context, CANR conducts research in:
