LANTITE Success

Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) is a requirement for all students enrolled in an initial primary and secondary teacher education course either undergraduate or postgraduate) in Australia. Students are required to sit the tests and meet the Literacy and Numeracy Test Standards prior to graduating from their course. Historically, students have had three attempts at successfully completing LANTITE. Pre-service teachers enrolled in a course specialising ONLY in early childhood education are not required to undertake LANTITE.

Note: If you are enrolled in 1783 Master of Teaching (Birth – 12 Years) you will be required to pass LANTITE before enrolling in your final professional experience in a school setting - TEAC7106 Professional Experience K-6 as this course covers both Early Childhood and Primary Teaching.

In 2023-24, as part of the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan (Priority Area Two) Western Sydney University is participating in a trial. As part of this trial, Western Sydney University students enrolled in Initial Teacher Education and Pathways programs are eligible to undertake unlimited LANTITE test attempts from Test Window 4 in September 2023 (when registration opens) until Test Window 3 in August 2024.
