LANTITE Success
All students enrolled in an initial teacher education course (to teach in a primary or secondary school) in Australia must pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) prior to graduating from their course.
From 2024, students who are required to undertake the LANTITE are expected to attempt the test before the end of the first year of their Australian ITE qualification.
Previously, students enrolled in an initial teacher education course have been allowed three attempts to complete LANTITE. This is now changing. In 2025 onwards Initial Teacher Education students may undertake unlimited LANTITE test attempts.
Note: If you are enrolled in the 1773 Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary), you must pass the LANTITE before enrolling in your final professional experience in a school setting, TEAC7106 Professional Experience K-6, as this course covers both Early Childhood and Primary Teaching. If you are enrolled in the 1774 Master of Teaching (Early Childhood), you are not required to undertake the LANTITE.
What does this mean for you?
There will be no test limits for candidates sitting the LANTITE.
If you have used all of your three attempts or are on a period of leave from your program you can register yourself for the test now without re-enrolling or waiting. If you have any issues registering to sit the test please contact ACER directly teacheredtest@acer.org
If you are planning to enrol in an ITE course can now sit the test window before you commence your studies. This includes Year 11 and 12 students, recent school graduates, mature age or mid-career people and people enrolled in pathway courses. Prospective/unenrolled international students can sit the LANTITE test before they enrol or once enrolled in an accredited ITE course.
