Academic Literacy Workshops on campus

The academic literacy workshops are great for all students. They may be especially helpful if you're wondering about the academic expectations of university, if you've had a break from study and are feeling a bit rusty, or if you haven't studied in Australia before.

You can choose from two-day and four-day workshops that run at different times throughout the year such as in the pre-semester and mid-semester breaks.

It is also possible to do the workshop online. See the menu item of ‘The online workshop’ for more information.

On campus you can select a 4-day or a 2-day workshop. There are also 2-day workshops that cover grammar topics.

The two-day workshop on campus

If you are looking for a short course to 'brush up' on your writing and referencing skills, then the short two-day Academic Literacy workshop may be right for you.

The two-day workshop focuses on:

  • academic style of writing
  • paragraph structure
  • essay writing at university
  • referencing

The workshop allows you to learn these skills in a supportive environment and receive some feedback on your writing skills from a friendly tutor.

The four-day workshop on campus

The four day workshop covers a broader range of academic skills and allows more time to receive feedback from a tutor.

The four-day workshop focuses on:

  • reading lengthy academic texts
  • notetaking
  • academic style of writing
  • paragraph and essay structure
  • referencing and researching
  • critical analysis
  • assignment preparation, and more

The four-day workshop is a great way to prepare for university and learn these skills in a supportive environment. It's also a great way to meet other students in a relaxed and friendly environment.
