2          D         yeah

3          K          and feel free you would like to ask me any question about myself at any time

4          D         um

5          K          ok after that you know we are going after that we are going to look at the same the at the same picture and ask each other question is that ok?

6          D         yeah

7          K          that sounds alright?

8          D         yeah

9          K          ok soredewa(Japanese) ok first can I ask you know a question about your age? how old are you?

10        D         I'm twenty-seven years old

11        K          twenty-seven wow young (laugh) so which country were you born in?

12        D         country?

13        K          yeah

14        D         Japan

15        K          oh (XX) Japan that's good and when you know did you arrive a arrive in arrive at Australia?

16        D         I came here the end of at the end of March two thousand seven

17        K          thousand seven (XXX) last year?

18        D         last year yes

19        K          oh ok two thousand and seven so um in that case you were two twenty-six years old is that right? when you arrived at Australia?

20        D         yes

21        K          so I cannot calculate how long have you been here in Australia?

22        D         for um this is my second time

23        K          yeah

24        D         to come here um I was I have been here on two thousand five to two thousand six one year

25        K          ok

26        D         and this time um I've been here more than one and half year so all together two and half year

27        K          two sorry? all together

28        D         two and half year

29        K          two and half year means two and half year and six months

30        D         yes

31        K          ok thank you so and where you know did you learn you know English?

32        D         where?

33        K          yeah did you learn English in Japan?

34        D         yes

35        K          how long did you learn English there?

36        D         um I started I started learning vocabulary and grammar in junior high school

37        K          uh

38        D         and um um I started speaking English when I entered university

39        K          ok so all together how long?

40        D         how long?

41        K          yes

42        D         um it um I've been studying English for fifteen years all together

43        K          ok fifteen years

44        D         uhm uhm

45        K          so fifteen years means oh when did you actually study. um sta start studying English in Japan? twelve years old? Is that right?

46        D         twelve years

47        K          ok. do speak any lang language apart from Japan Japanese?

48        D         no

49        K          ok only English?

50        D         yes

51        K          ok very good wow so you never learnt any language at home (XX) in at school

52        D         um when I was in undergraduate

53        K          uh

54        D         I you know studied French Arabic

55        K          Arabic?

56        D         yeah

57        K          French and French Arabic?

58        D         yeah

59        K          and any other language?

60        D         that's it

61        K          that's it how long did you learn these two languages?

62        D         I've started French for one year and Arabic half year

63        K          half a year?

64        D         yes

66        D         and I give up gave up (laugh)

67        K          what's the most different thing you know when you learnt you know um Arabic?

68        D         umm Arabic is really um fascinating in a way that it you know um if I learnt Arabic

69        K          uh

70        D         maybe I can you know go to Egypt and then you know (laugh) and then both both French and Arabic are the United Nations' um certified um language

71        K          uh

72        D         languages so um one of my plan is working for the United Nations

73        K          wow

74        D         in the future

75        K          good on you very good

76        D         but I thought that English is more important than two so I decided to you know focus on English first

77        K          ok

78        D         uh

79        K          so you first so but you get I think you can so actually how many language you know do you think you can speak?

80        D         um only English and Japanese

81        K          how many languages? two languages?

82        D         just two

83        K          oh ok but you know as for English how long do you maintain this language skills? you know like speaking skills h how? yeah how?

84        D         maintain?

85        K          maintain so not so yeah maintain

86        D         you mean keep my language efficiency?

87        K          yes

89        K          yes proficiency yeah

90        D         ummm I think watching DVD in English is only way I'm doing now what I'm doing now

92        D         watching the DVDs

93        K          what what kind of DVD? what kind of program actually

94        D         recently I watched the um Orange county oc it's an American you know

95        K          ok (laugh)

96        D         and I bought the DVD of the Beverley Hills 90210 (laugh) it's really classy

97        K          I know it's classy

98        D         you know that. have you seen it?

99        K          ah yes

100     D         I love it and um I compare two of them and I prefer watching the um Beverley Hills

101     K          ok Beverley Hills (laugh) ok thank you very interesting (laugh) ok actually you know what are you doing in Australia? could you tell me your occupation?

102     D         my occupation?

103     K          here in Australia

104     D         um I'm getting my PhD

105     K          hum so full-time PhD student?

106     D         yes full-time student

107     K          uh and how about in Japan? what did you doing when you were in Japan?

108     D         when?

109     K          when you were in Japan? what did you do? what was your occupation there?

110     D         um I was a student in undergraduate

111     K          uh

112     D         and after graduation um I was applying for the Master course in Sydney uni

113     K          uh

114     D         as well as applying for the scholarship

115     K          uh ok so you never worked

116     D         oh I was in the part-time job just teaching you know

117     K          teaching what? what what teaching what did you teach?

118     D         teaching teaching for elementary and junior high school students English history um mathematics biology something like that

119     K          wow great job (laugh) oh good good on you (laugh)

120     D         and also having a part-time job um as a facilitator of the yahoo bb and a credit card

121     K          what's that? what's that? I don't understand that

122     D         um I ask people to make new credit cards or persuade people to join yahoo bb

123     K          what's bb?

124     D         yahoo bb is the internet company

125     K          oh ok (laugh) intres sounds very interesting

126     D         it's a just part-time job I've never had a real job yet so

127     K          oh ok what do you (XXX) I've never thought that kind of job (XXX)

128     D         I am teaching here

132     D         as as a guest lecturer in here and Bankstown just one twice

134     D         um I wanna discuss Japan and Australian relationship especially the international peace keeping cooperation in Cambodia and East Timor so Japan's UN policy yes

140     D         um there are one two . nine ten people in this picture

141     K          oh yes I have ten yeah

145     K          how many birds actually how many birds you do you have in your picture?

146     D         I think there are three pigeons three or four pigeons and four ducks in the lake

147     K          four four ducks in the lake lake? in the pond?

150     D         on the tree and then four ducks in the pond

294     D         um she is working for insurance company and I have two more younger brothers and going

297     K          wow I'm just wondering you know does she play piano or you know any music instrument

298     D         um actually three three of them um play piano but I did not play learn piano I was not interested that (laugh)

church was hit by a thunder

a bottle was broken by a ball

a red car was tow towed by a car

lady was moving a tol tollo

grandpa gave a present to his um grandson

gunman was um shooting a police
