Connecting with kids: Dads invited to participate in online survey
A PhD researcher from the University of Western Sydney is conducting a study of how parenting styles can have an impact on the ways that men establish emotional connections with their children.
Dion Khlentzos, a doctoral candidate based within the School of Education at UWS, is calling on fathers of preschool to primary school-aged children to participate in a short online questionnaire.
Mr Khlentzos says the UWS study aims to gain an understanding of how each participant approaches fatherhood; their varying parenting styles; and their relationships with their children.
"There is a wealth of research evidence which suggests that the quality of a man's relationship with his children can have a significant impact on his overall health and wellbeing," says Mr Khlentzos.
"It is therefore important to understand how men are able to establish emotional connections with their kids, and how their feelings about being a father affect their feelings about themselves."
Fathers who are interested in participating in the UWS study are invited to complete the online questionnaire.
