Western Sydney University is once again calling for nominations for its annual Women of the West and Young Women of the West Awards.
For more than 10 years the Women of the West Awards have celebrated the invaluable contribution that women make to the Western Sydney region.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Denise Kirkpatrick, says the awards are a chance for the people of Western Sydney to recognise the incredible women that live and work in their local community.
“The University is proud to honour women in Greater Western Sydney and formally recognise their contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of the region,” says Professor Kirkpatrick.
“While these women may come from many different backgrounds and work across many different fields, they all have in common a drive, passion and commitment to making our community a better place.”
Last year’s winners included Le Ho from Fairfield, who won the Woman of the West (Business) Award, and impressed judges with both her business acumen and her community work, while Woman of the West (Community) recipient, Jenny Bombardieri from Bankstown was recognised for her outstanding advocacy work and commitment to social inclusion.
The 2018 Awards will feature three categories: Woman of the West (Business); Woman of the west (Community); and Young Woman of the West (18 to 30yrs). Nominees must live or work in Greater Western Sydney, and must demonstrate leadership in their field of endeavour, and contribute to improving the lives of people in the region.
Nominations should be submitted via email at womenofthewest@westernsydney.edu.au and should include the full name and a contact email for the nominee, the nominated award category, and reason for the nomination.

Nominations close on Thursday, 14 December 2017, with the winners publicly announced at the Western Sydney University International Women's Day celebrations in March 2018.
