Research Methods Workshop for HSC Society and Culture students

Are you an HSC student of Society and Culture starting your PIP?

If so, you may be interested in t­­his free workshop run by academics who teach research methods in the Cultural and Social Analysis specialisation in the Bachelor of Arts at Western Sydney University.

What is the workshop about?

It is a practical hands-on workshop that will focus on:

  • How to develop good research questions.
  • An overview of methods that social and cultural researchers use.
  • How to figure out which method(s) to use to answer your questions.
  • How to analyse your research data.

There will be plenty of ‘hands-on and ‘how to’ exercises for a variety of methods including interviews, observation, participant observation and focus groups. If you have any special requests for methods, or issues to cover, you are welcome to email us with suggestions.  We can’t promise that we can cover everything but we’ll do our best!

At the Penrith (Kingswood) campus of Western Sydney University.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! The workshop is run as part of the School of Humanities and Communication Arts commitment to community engagement. Morning and afternoon tea, and lunch will be provided.
