Western Sydney University warmly congratulates the thousands of students who have received offers to study at the University in 2024, as it gets ready to welcome them to campus next month.
More than 3,000 students have received offers today from the University across its comprehensive range of programs. This is in addition to the 13,000 offers made in the earlier rounds – giving even more students the opportunity to study the course of their choice and fulfil their career ambitions.
Careers in business, health science, medicine, medical science, psychology, education and construction management are among the popular course choices this year.
Western Sydney University student and Student Services Hub team member, Nicola Lopino, is one of the friendly faces on hand to help students with any questions about their uni offer or to provide further advice about study options or pathways.
Nicola is looking forward to seeing the thousands of new students on campus for the University’s Welcome Week and orientation activities which kick off on 26 February.
“It’s such an exciting time of the year for all the students who are about to commence their study journey with us. We’re here to welcome you and help make the transition to uni as smooth as possible,” said Nicola.
Western Sydney University has a long and proud history of opening up access to higher education for talented students from all backgrounds, particularly those from Western Sydney.
The University is committed to ensuring all students who are hard working and capable have the opportunity to go to university, and most importantly, are well-supported to succeed.
As part of the Western Sydney University community, students are joining a young, vibrant and welcoming university that is proudly ranked number one in the world for the second year in a row for its social, ecological and economic impact by the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact rankings.
One of the new students looking forward to starting classes this year is Penrith local, Abby Affleck.
Abby, a former captain at Caroline Chisholm College, received an offer to her dream course, the Bachelor of Communication, through the University's innovative HSC True Reward program.
“When I received my early offer it made me extremely excited that Western Sydney University saw potential in me to offer me a place in my dream course,” she said.
“I also felt a great sense of relief and appreciation that all the hard work I had put in during Year 11 to receive this offer had paid off.”
Abby knew from a young age that she wanted to work in the media industry and pursue her love of public speaking, writing, creativity, and social media.
“When I investigated all the different courses the Bachelor of Communication at Western is the one that really stood out for me, as it offers so many different pathways, careers, and opportunities in my field of interest,” she said.
“When I graduate, depending on which direction my heart guides me throughout my degree, I would either really love to become a journalist for a major news outlet or work for a sporting team in their media and public relations team.”
Student Services Hub member Nicola also has plenty of advice for students who may not have received a university offer today or want to consider their options.
"The important thing to know is that there are many pathways to university regardless of your educational background, including our own pathway provider, The College. We encourage students to explore all the options available to them, and we are here to help with that. Students can stay connected with us and talk through next steps, and we are ready to assist with any advice and support they need,” said Nicola.
The College at Western Sydney University offers students a direct route to a university degree. Successful completion of a Diploma with The College allows students to seamlessly transition into the second year of a related bachelor's degree at the University.
In addition to full credit towards a bachelor’s degree upon completing a diploma, the added benefit of studying at College include small class sizes, personalised support and flexibility.
As part of a range of support services, students at The College have access to a dedicated First Year Experience Coordinator to provide support and guidance, giving students a head-start. They will also join a supportive community of teachers and like-minded classmates as part of their university experience.
Students who would like to discuss their offer or further study options can contact the friendly Student Services Hub team on 1300 897 669 or email study@westernsydney.edu.au.
