Support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart
Western Sydney University joins universities from across Australia in pledging our support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
The Uluru Statement calls for a First Nations Voice to Parliament and a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making and truth-telling, and is a vital part of acknowledging our Indigenous history.
We commit to recognising that these lands we now reside and teach on, have been home to Indigenous peoples for tens of thousands of years. We also commit to listen respectfully, and to value, Indigenous Knowledges.
Our recently launched Indigenous Strategy confirms Western’s longstanding commitment to Indigenous Research and to our Indigenous peoples, the world’s oldest continuous culture.
