Throughout the month of May, the Margot Hardy Gallery situated on the Bankstown campus of the University of Western Sydney, will host the ‘All the Way Home’ art exhibition.

The exhibition is a collection of works by the children of the Blue Mountains Home Education Network.

“An increasing number of families worldwide are choosing to formally ‘home educate’,” says Jane Shellshear, Blue Mountains Home Education Network Coordinator.

“The home is the central point where parents commit to the role of primary mentor or guide in their homeschooled child’s learning, however learning can also happen within the community which is what the Network aims to facilitate.”

The ‘All the Way Home’ exhibition offers audience members a unique window into the home education community and demonstrates the diversity in age, experience and ability of the Home Education Network children. The artworks are examples of the outcomes achievable through both self-directed study and formal tuition.

“The collaborative piece was designed to allow for individual expression within a group context and was sourced from several distinct home education groups from the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney,” says Ms Shellshear.

The official opening of the ‘All the Way Home’ exhibition will be held on Saturday 4th May 2013 2.00pm – 4.00pm and more information can be found on the UWS Art Gallery website.
