Enter a world of desolate wonder brought to you through the lens of six outstanding photographers. Without the distraction of colour, these photographers take you on a journey of Arid to Abstract Australian Landscape Photography.

The University of Western Sydney Art Gallery will host the exhibition from landscape inspired photographers, which opens this Saturday 20th April and will run until Friday 21st June 2013.

One of the featured artists, Enrico Scotece, is also Associate Lecturer in Design and Photomedia, from the School of Humanities and Communication Arts at UWS. He says the stylised images record and respond to the Australian landscape.

“All the photographers work solely with black and white film and each work is a hand printed silver halide photograph,” says Mr Scotece.

Come along and immerse yourself amongst this plethora of talent. The exhibition will also feature works from Tony Sillavan, a painter who uses the camera as a mechanical sketchbook, and Pat Sweet, whose art portrays recognisable and distinct depictions of our land.

Paul Dorahy’s images focus upon the tormented forms and empty spaces found within the Australian landscape; Klaus Major’s photographs juxtapose the line and form of tree matter with those of chasms and ranges; whilst Deb Coogan’s photography is also fascinated with the abstracted lines and tones found within a landscape.

The UWS Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
