The Course Load and Planning Group (CLPG) act as the steering for the 21C Curriculum Project for this first year.
Conversations are ongoing with Schools (via School Curriculum Pilots) about the need for a new degree architecture that enables more flexibility, distinctiveness, cross-disciplinarity, and the capacity for micro-credentialling to address the challenges emerging from the future of work and society.
As result of their School Curriculum Pilots, the suite of BScience degrees are revitalised; the BArts core units are revised and now run across 3 years rather than solely first year; the Master of Marketing begins to experiment with a more flexible structure; and key Engineering degrees incorporate work integrated learning in line with the principles of Partnership Pedagogy (opens in a new window).
The first 21C Culture (opens in a new window) initiative encourages staff to complete the Teaching Cultures Survey which will obtain foundational benchmarking data on staff perceptions of how valued learning and teaching is at Western.
The inaugural 2020 21C Curriculum Champions are announced and planning proceeds to recruit 40 Curriculum Fellows, 16 new student partners, and secure high profile strategic external curriculum partners.
