Centre For Smart Modern Construction
Vision and Mission:
To contribute to the development of a smart modern construction industry that is capable of dealing with challenges of the 21 Century using concepts and technologies brought forward by the 4th Industrial Revolution. To be a leading industry-focused research hub in Australia, where challenges of sustainability, digitalisation, industrialization, resilience and globalization are proactively responded to through academic, industry, professional body and government collaboration.
Research expertise:
The Centre for Smart Modern Construction (c4SMC) is an industry collaboration initiative embracing smart technologies and processes in delivering a modern construction industry. Research projects are focused on sustainability (and circular economy), digitalization, industrialization, resilience, and globalization through academic, industry, professional body, and government collaboration. The Centre is a recognized entity for construction industry and built environment policy related research. The Centre is home to over 20 doctoral and post-doctoral researchers representing disciplines of construction, project management, engineering, computing and architecture.
The Centre is the host for the Construction Informatics lab located in Kingswood campus. The lab is the base location for construction software development and experimentation. Core areas of research include, blockchain, IoT integration, BIM, AR, VR and XR technologies, digital scanning and imaging, deep learning and other AI technologies.
