- Description
Can Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) give researchers superpowers? Would you like to know more about the implications of GAI and the opportunities and threats it presents to the future of research?
Join us at the next all-staff webinar series on GAI (27 September 2023: 10 am – 12 noon), and hear from a range of interesting speakers, from and external to the University.
As you are aware, Western Sydney University is a research institution driven by impact. The University collaborates with industry, the community and government to deliver research which makes a real difference to the economy, society, culture, and the environment. With more than 40,000 students and 1,100 academic staff, we are one of Australia's largest research-led universities. The rapid evolution of generative AI models over the last few months not only provides opportunities for the research community to harness its potential but also poses significant risks.
Western Sydney University is committed to the highest standards of integrity in conducting research. The research enterprise is a deeply social activity and is embedded in mutual trust among researchers and the emerging researchers they supervise; trust between researchers and those who support their endeavour by participating in research, and trust between researchers and the community which values their creation of new knowledge and hopes that there will be benefits for all arising from the research effort. This webinar will consider how researchers can make use of generative AI while maintaining trust, upholding research integrity standards, and ensuring ethical conduct of research.
Speakers: Dr Simon Knight, Dr Shantala Mohan, Associate Professor Nida Denson, Associate Professor Tamara Watson, Yoshiko Kakita (Senior Developer Manager - Scopus) Dr Sarah Hook, Frank Hill, Amy Watson (Linkedin Learning)
