Researching Myanmar’s Genocide: some questions of law and methodology
As legal researchers we are often drawn to examining issues of topical concern: social movements; pandemics; wars; emergencies. This kind of research is rarely purely doctrinal. But how do we develop a rigorous Law and Society methodology in relation to events that are still unfolding and a body of law that is unsettled? This presentation considers this question in the context of the author’s research into alleged genocide in Myanmar in 2017,.
