These visits are open to all participants. Registrations are required. There are 2 options to select from which have been nominated during registration, however is subject to size availabilities. You may be asked to join another tour group should numbers exceed capacity. Please confirm your preference on registration. You must wear enclosed, comfortable walking shoes as you will be outside walking around most of the morning. We also recommend bringing a water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Our participants can attend one of the following options:
Fieldtrip 1: Smart and Green Cities, Sydney Olympic Park
Participants will be given a unique behind the scenes tour of the natural, built and community assets of Sydney Olympic Park, highlighting the outstanding social, economic and environmental benefits being delivered for the people of Sydney and NSW. You will have the opportunity to see the Park’s journey towards accreditation as a world-leading ‘Green Star Community’. Sydney Olympic Park has a large and unique area covering 640 hectares including, 430 hectares of green space, parklands and wetlands. It also supports major sporting and entertainment venues and serves rapidly growing residential and business communities.
Fieldtrip 2: Climate and Culture, Hawkesbury Campus and Brewongle Environment Education Centre
Participants will be given a brief tour of our Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment EucFACE Climate Change experiment, the world's only Eucalyptus Free Air CO2 Enrichment (EucFACE) experiment in a native forest. Afterwards visit the Brewongle Environmental Education Centre located in a scenic spot above Deerubbin - the majestic Hawkesbury River. Delegates will be given a tour of the centre and forest grounds and discover several of our popular excursion programs. Participants will also receive an Aboriginal cultural talk from Brewongle's Darug cultural educator.
Optional Fieldtrips 3 and 4
The options field trips are available but must be self-funded (all costs associated with transport, entry fees and any other incidentals). You may pre-book a spot at registration on arrival of on Tuesday, 25 September when registering. After this date not further arrangements will be made.
