Legal and Compliance Training Resources

The Office of General Counsel provides Legal and Compliance training to all University staff. The training centres on:

  1. legal topics that are beneficial to the University and its controlled entity staff and;
  2. regulatory reforms that necessitate changes in internal controls or procedure within business areas of the University and its controlled entities.

The Legal and Compliance Training Program ("LCTP") includes webinars and workshop-format learning opportunities tailored to meet the university legal and compliance requirements. It is a no-cost service.

The range of topics are informed by a consultative discussion within the Office of the University General Counsel, and the relevant business units to ascertain training needs and specific requirements. It is advertised via Viva Engage, the OGC WesternNow landing page, and targeted emails to impacted business units and leadership groups.

LCTP will be facilitated by the Director, Compliance, and presented by a combination of lawyers from within the Office of General Counsel and external law firms.

By providing opportunities for discussion, learning, and highlighting current or upcoming regulatory changes, and emerging legal risks for all staff, the LCTP is designed to be complementary and supplemental to the Enterprise Mandatory Training organised by the Office of People.

Legal and Compliance Training Program Calendar

The topics are planned in response to significant changes in the legislative environment. The times and locations are determined by availability.

Download a PDF of the LCTP Calendar, which is updated periodically. Any new sessions added to the calendar are communicated via Yammer/Viva Engage, and e-update.

The calendar is hyperlinked to, where available, resources such as the slide deck, and recordings of the session.
