Under the 21C Project working parties developed a set of Curriculum Principles in the second half of 2018. These Principles were provided to the University community for consultation through an all-staff survey and forums in December 2018. The principles were revised and extended in light of the feedback provided and endorsed as the basis for the new Curriculum Design and Approval Policy in March 2019. At the 7 July 2020 meeting, APCAC reviewed and updated the principles as part of the University’s response to COVID-19, including Hyflex design and delivery. Over 2019/2020 a single principle-based policy and mandatory procedures were developed by a series of task groups under the oversight of the then Academic Policy Advisory Group (APAG) of Senate Education Committee.
At the 4 December 2020 meeting of Academic Senate the CDA Policy and associated Procedures were approved and following the development of an extensive implementation plan, they were published on 3 May 2021. As a matter of standard practice, a review of the operation of the new suite of documents is scheduled to occur twelve months after implementation.
