ZoomText is screen magnification software for the Microsoft Windows operating system that is tailored for low vision users. It allows you to change screen colours and magnification levels, customize the mouse pointer and text cursor to make it easy to find them, and turn on a focus rectangle to help you track where you are on the screen. Additionally, ZoomText is available with some basic speech features for reading documents, web pages, and email, as well as hearing what you are typing or what is under the mouse pointer.
Getting Started
When you are getting started with ZoomText you will need to adjust the screen settings, magnification level, and adjust how you want the voice to echo your mouse or keyboard actions. To do this, work through the Getting Started page on the Freedom Scientific website. If you need to stop the voice reading out to you while you do this, use the keyboard shortcut Control+Alt+Enter to turn the voice off.
To make better use of the program you will need to learn what it is capable of and figure out which settings you may want to tweak to optimise your experience. To do this, browse the videos below for demonstrations of ZoomText functionality. You can also make use of keyboard shortcuts, known as ZoomText Hotkeys.
