Western Sydney University Boxing Society

Western Sydney University Boxing Society was created by an individual that simply wanted to share the benefits and culture of boxing with the students of Western Sydney. The goal of the Boxing Society is to bring students to a place where they can challenge and improve themselves both physically and mentally, and in the process, be a part of a network of people that are trying to better themselves. The Boxing Society wants to contribute to the university culture by creating fighters that strive for excellence, not only in the ring, but in studies and life.

The society was founded in late 2015 and started with one boxer and a group of friends. Initially, the Club faced many obstacles, one of which was finding a suitable training facility. Since then, the society has faced a huge growth in 2016 with session attendance and the executive team almost doubling in size after O'Week. The society went from having one session every few months to now holding free sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at Family Self Defence Parramatta, which is conveniently located close to both Parramatta Campuses.

The society hopes to bring on-campus events such as free boot-camps and self-defence seminars so students can learn the skills that will give them confidence when dealing with dangerous situations. The society is currently collaborating with Campus Life to make these goals a reality.
