Sydney Intervarsity League

On Friday 27th of May, Western Sydney University Sport students took on UTS, Macquarie, UNSW and Sydney University in the first inaugural Sydney Intervarsity League Competition.

Western Sydney students competed in men's and women's touch, men's and women's futsal and men's and mixed Oz tag.

Both our men's and women's touch teams won their grand finals. Men's Oz tag came 2nd, mixed Oz tag came 3rd and women's futsal came 4th.

Our men's futsal team battled out the grand final against UTS, going down to the wire. They played into overtime with no change in result; a penalty shoot-out deciding the outcome. The nail biting kicks revealed Western Sydney to be the champions.Taking out 1st in 3 of the competitions led us to overall day champions.

The stage is now set for the upcoming Eastern University Games, where many of the students will play against each other again. Western Sydney U students are going in with the upper hand and plan to still come out on top.
