Over the last 18 months HIE has secured more than $17M in external research funding. A significant portion of that income has come from their partnership with Hort Innovation (HIA), a not-for-profit, grower-owned research, development & marketing company for Australia’s vital $9 billion horticulture e industry.

Over the last five years, the team at HIE have built and nurtured a strong partnership with Hort Innovation with significant "behind the scenes" negotiations via presentations, industry field days, expressions of interest, and capability statements developed during this time. The ability of the HIE team to adapt to different industry problems has demonstrated their flexibility and unique capability to deliver multi-discipline-based solutions for growers which has culminated the award of several large research contracts.
