Description

This presentation will reference partnership themes from the New South Wales Fresh AIR (Artist in Residence) longitudinal research study, which investigated three sustained artists-in-residence partnerships in primary and secondary government schools over the period of three years from 2014 – 2016. This was a predominately qualitative study of teaching artists, arts teachers and arts students collaborating together in Australian government schools that were partnered by arts organisations. Emphasis will be placed on the implications for students in schools when collaborative arts partnerships leverage creative community building beyond the walls of the arts classroom. Discover the key elements that contribute to the growth and maintenance of a creative school ecology. Participants will learn research skills and procedures associated with a qualitative study that will be emphasised especially within a project that relied on multiple partnerships. PRESENTER: Associate Professor Mary Mooney is a recipient of the Drama Australia President’s Award and the award for Outstanding Professional Service from the NSW Professional Teachers' Council. Mary is a Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships on the Drama Australia Board, a member of the National Advocates for Arts Education and the Australian Alliance of Associations in Education #EduConvs
