As Australia’s biggest Asian neighbour, the fast-rising China still has a mysterious feel about it for those who do not know about it. This seminar offers to help unravel that mystery by introducing you to the essential facts about the country in relation to its history, geography, language and culture, with a special emphasis on its modern and contemporary realities. The speaker, Dr Yan (Vera) Xu , draws on an Australia-China comparative perspective for an exciting explication of some core values, customs and thinking habits that a great majority of Chinese people still live and work by today.
