Degree Audit
Your Degree Audit shows:
- Subjects you’re currently registered in (in-progress subjects appear once the session starts)
- Subjects you’ve completed, including grades and session
- Transfer credits granted
- Registered program, majors, minors or concentrations
- Requirements you've met and what's still outstanding
- Any subjects not currently applying to your program
If your audit doesn’t accurately reflect your progress, you need to consult with your academic progress with your Academic Program Advisor.
For step-by-step help, view: How do I use my Degree Audit?
Why Your Degree Audit Might Not Be Available
- You're registered in an older or continuing program
- You're no longer an active student (e.g. you’ve graduated)
- You are registered in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy program
In these cases, contact your Academic Program Advisor for manual progress assessment.
What-If Tool - Explore Your Options
The What-If tool allows you to explore how a different program, major or minor would impact your progress.
You can:
- Compare your completed subjects against a new structure
- Plan how extra subjects could fit into your current program
- Preview your progress if you transfer to a new program

Understanding Audit Sections
Program Requirements Block: The Program Requirements block itemises the curriculum components that you are registered in that relate to your current program. The detailed requirements for each component display in blocks within the Audit.
Core Block: Majority of Audits will have a Core Block which contains the mandatory subjects required for the program. Students must complete all subjects listed in the core block.
Major and Minor (Filed of Study) Block: If you are enrolled in a major or minor, each one will appear as a block below the Core requirements. Depending on your program requirements, you may not have a major or minor.
Elective Block: If your program has elective requirements, an Electives block will be on the Audit and any subject taken that meets an elective requirement may apply here.
Not Currently Applied: Subjects that don’t meet any requirement in your program. If you have received advice from an Academic Program Advisor that you can take the subject, but a Contrary to Program Rules has not been submitted or actioned, the subjects may remain in the Not Currently Applied section. Contact The Student Services Hub if you believe a subject should apply.
Insufficient Block: Subjects that were not successfully completed.
In Progress Block: Subjects that you are currently studying will be listed here.
Over The Limit: Subjects completed over 10 years ago or internal transfer credit has been granted for it which also appears on the Audit with Transfer Credits (TC) grade.
Note: Subjects completed more than 10 years ago require approval from an Academic Program Advisor or Director of Academic Program to be re-applied. Please consult your Academic Program Advisor or Director of Academic Program to seek approval for reapplying these subjects to your current program.
For more details on understanding the blocks in your Degree Works audit, such as "Not Currently Applied," "Over the Limit," and "Insufficient," please refer to the guide How do I use my Degree Audit?
Common Audit Scenarios
Why are my subjects appearing more than once on my Audit?
The major subjects can share outward to either a program or elective block. This allows for the many scenarios where students may use their Elective space to pursue a Field of Study, i.e. an additional major or a minor, or where the same subjects may be requirements in more than one Field of Study on a student record.
While the subjects may appear in multiple sections on an audit, their credit points will only be counted once towards the student’s completion as indicated in the overall "Credit Points Applied" in the Program Requirements section which summarises all other sections.
My degree requirements show that I have completed all the requirements but why my degree progress is not showing 100%.
Elective requirements may appear to be fulfilled by subjects that also count toward your major or minor (if applicable). However, if your total program credit points are not met, you may need to take additional electives. These extra subjects will be applied accordingly. Use the What-If Analysis tool to check if adding an elective resolves any duplicates. If you need guidance on your program requirements, please consult your Academic Program Advisor.
Why are the subjects I previously completed at WSU listed with a Transfer Credits (TC) grade in the Degree Audit?
If your completed subjects appear with a TC grade in the Degree Audit, it likely means they were transferred as credit for prior learning from another program before 2021. To replace the TC grade with the original subjects and grades, you will need to submit a DegreeWorks Enquiry Form through WesternNow.
Please note only students with TC subjects studied at Western can apply to have graded subjects apply.
How can I request to exclude subjects from my previous program from being applied to my new program?
If you have recently transferred to a new program, and do not wish your previous subjects from applying, you first need to discuss with your Academic Program Advisor and seek approval. If the request is approved, you can complete a DegreeWorks Enquiry Form through WesternNow.
Note: Subjects already completed in your current program cannot be excluded.
