Who does the team work with?
Student Recruitment Services is a part of the Careers team who all work together to assist students and recent graduates to improve their career-readiness skills.

The Student Recruitment Services team promotes employment opportunities to students at Western Sydney University who are looking for career-related work. We also work with businesses of all sizes throughout Western Sydney to help them fill their staffing needs with our hard-working students.

We also work with academics to help us promote opportunities to their student cohort. We have links with business, including The Australian Chamber of Commerce, local councils and the Western Sydney Business Connection who support our service through their networks.

What would be a good example of the work that you are involved in?
The Student Recruitment Services team offers paid industry work experience opportunities to students studying at the University. Through our links with local industry, we help them obtain vital skills and real world experience which will assist them when applying for ongoing work after graduating.

What challenges does the team face?
Encouraging students to apply for these career opportunities – we can never have too many applicants!

What is the team focusing on in the next 12 months?
We aim to build on our services to include add-ons such as mentoring and ways to encourage our students to make use of our online resources. These include a wide variety of helpful information such as how to write a good résumé and cover letter and how to present yourself at interview. These resources are really valuable in improving our students' chances of success in a competitive workforce.

If you know an employer who may wish to link with our University students or graduates, please let us know. More information on the services our team can provide to external employers can be found on the Services for Employers webpage (opens in a new window) or you can call 4736 0388 or email Judy Holman: j.holman@westernsydney.edu.au
