In the lead up to the 2014 Christmas period, the Chancellor's Christmas Toy Appeal once again called for donations of toys and gifts to be distributed by The Salvation Army to disadvantaged families within western Sydney in time for Christmas.

While the holiday season can be difficult for many families, thanks to the generous spirit of the students and staff at UWS, UWS Early Learning Centres and UWSCollege, some saw their Christmas brightened through the donation of more than 1000 toys and gifts.

The Salvation Army 's Community Relations Director, Greater West Division, Stephen Burfield, accepted the gifts on behalf of The Salvation Army and was grateful to the UWS community.

"Christmas is a time for remembering those less fortunate and for giving," says Professor Peter Shergold. "I am overwhelmed by the generosity of UWS staff. It's wonderful to see that the UWS community has come forward to donate such an exceptional number of gifts."

Thank you to everyone who generously donated a toy or gift to the 2014 appeal.
