Description

Dr Lynde Tan is an Associate Professor of Digital Literacies and Language Education at Western Sydney University, Australia. A leading researcher in applied linguistics and language education, she explores how emerging technologies, and innovative literacies can transform language and literacy learning. Dr Tan is the author of the book: Between Worlds: Enhancing Students’ Multimodal Literacy Practices with Augmented Reality.

In today’s digital world, young children are increasingly engaging with multimodal texts that extend beyond traditional print. Augmented Reality (AR) serves as a powerful tool to bridge informal digital practices with formal literacy learning. It creates multisensorial and interactive experiences that enhance language and literacy development.

This event explores the potential of AR for scaffolding storytelling, developing oracy, and fostering critical and creative thinking and writing. It highlights strategies for harnessing the educational benefits of AR to transform language and literacy experiences for young children, making learning more engaging for them.

Come and learn about Dr Tan’s research that explores how augmented reality can be used to support language learning and literacy in education.

This event will feature purposeful play and networking opportunities for those attending in person.
