From students to staff – UWS interns

Co-op interns

More than 200 staff and industry partners recently gathered at Parramatta Riverside Theatres to acknowledge successful interns at the Careers & Cooperative Education Awards Function.

Industry partners from a range of organisations came together with their former interns to congratulate them on their hard work and completion of an industry placement.

Several staff from Careers & Cooperative Education were among the industry partner representatives, demonstrating their endorsement of their own Jobs on Campus Program.

“Our student interns are a breath of fresh air,” says Jackie Simpson, Team Leader Career Education Consultant within Careers & Cooperative Education.

“The students placed with us are always very enthusiastic and eager to learn, picking things up very quickly. The Jobs on Campus program is a great way of providing an office with new energy and fresh ideas.

We feel quite privileged to have such a high level of expertise and professionalism in such a young team beginning their careers.”

Freny Tayebjee, Manager of Careers & Cooperative Education, is very proud of the internship program and the students who participate.

“It was wonderful to see all of our interns acknowledged at the recent Awards function, and I am very proud of all of their hard work both in external organisations and internally.

Frankly, our Unit would just not run without our interns! Besides assisting us, our interns also provide the expertise on the message, language and media to communicate more effectively with other UWS students.”

Internships are mutually beneficial, providing employers with a knowledgeable and valuable resource, and the students with practical, on the job training. More than 60% of participating students get ongoing work and almost all move on to secure great positions after they graduate.
