Biography

Dr Natalie Morrison is a Senior Lecturer in Mental health at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University. She also holds a Research Supervisory role with Charles Sturt University. Dr Morrison commenced at Western Sydney University in 2017 and since that time has taught and provided clinical supervision for undergraduate medical students alongside teaching into a post graduate masters program in allergic diseases. Dr Morrison is an active research supervisor at the higher degree level (PhD, and MRes), masters level (MD, Master of Clinical Psychology) and honours level. She regularly offers research training opportunities to early career researchers within the health sector at Western Sydney LHD where she has a conjoint position in Mental Health.

Dr Morrison is a registered psychologist and contributes to the local hospital community on a volunteer basis. She also works as a School Psychologist providing care to students, families, staff and the broader school community by offering individual, family, and group based programs. Dr Morrison is a regular guest lecturer across multiple national universities and non-government organisations particularly within her area of practice and research expertise of psychological trauma.
Since joining Western in 2017 Dr Morrison has gained a reputation in the fields of Childhood Sexual Abuse, Transgenerational Trauma, and Collective Trauma. Dr Morrison also has active research collaborations withing Workplace Mental Health and Health Psychology (including Chronic Pain and Cardiac Health). Natalie has been awarded several recognitions from journal publishers for “most downloaded article”, “most accesses article” and “method recognition” for a number of her publications. She has published over 28 peer reviewed papers and 3 book chapters and is currently an Editor on an upcoming book on Workplace Mental Health in the Construction Industry.

Dr Morrison teaches at the undergraduate and post graduate levels in Medicine and Psychology and has received a teaching award for her contributions to tertiary education and is a current scholarship recipient at Western Sydney for a teaching fellowship. Dr Morrison is an inaugural leader in the Translational Health Research Unit’s Trauma and Resilience Research Group.
