Sam is currently in the final stages of completing his PhD candidature at THRI, and has worked as both a casual academic and research assistant at THRI. As a research assistant, Sam has worked on projects focussing on healthcare access among CALD communities and breast cancer screening behaviours among women in Australia, as well as HIV risk factors among at-risk groups in Nepal. As a casual academic he has provided lectures and tutorials for subjects in the Masters of Epidemiology/Masters of Public Health, and has been the Population Health tutor for Years 1 and 2 at the WSU Medical (2019-2023).

In his research, Sam has used both quantitative and qualitative approaches. His main research focus is on Hepatitis B prevalence in Nepal, building on a collaboration from his Masters dissertation which investigated trends in HIV prevalence in at-risk groups.
