Biography
Cristy is an Associate Research Fellow in THRI and SoM, where she works on the Strong Families Trial. This RCT explores the efficacy of the ‘Strong Families’ program, a 6-week lifestyle and parenting intervention delivered online in multiple languages to families with children aged 5-11 years most at risk from unhealthy weight gain. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the program in reducing childhood obesity through a targeted intervention to improve the family dynamic and increase healthy lifestyles.
In addition to her work in the Strong Families Trial, Cristy completed her PhD at Western Sydney University in obesity and chronic low back pain and continues her research in this area. Her broader research interests include obesity, metabolic health, chronic illness and disease, women’s health, nutrition and exercise for health and wellbeing. She is also an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, ESSA member and certified Pilates instructor.
