Biography
Dr Cristy Brooks is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and has worked at Western Sydney University since 2012 in a variety of teaching, curriculum development and research roles. She has multidisciplinary teaching experience in health science, including exercise science, work experience, nutrition, psychology, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Cristy completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Sport and Exercise Science) and Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) with Western Sydney University. Cristy also completed her PhD at Western Sydney University in 2018 on mediating factors in the relationship between obesity and chronic low back pain. She is a mixed methods health science researcher with interests in obesity, metabolic health, pathophysiology of chronic pain, disease prevention and management over the lifespan, women’s health, nutrition, and exercise. She has ongoing collaborative projects in food security, physical activity among families, menstrual health, and endometriosis.
