Western Sydney Local Health District

Western Sydney Local Health District is committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to further develop their skills in Allied Health. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are under-represented in the workforce, and as a major employer not only in health but also Western Sydney, we would like to provide this opportunity for an Indigenous person to undertake the Masters of Art Therapy.

Historically, Aboriginal art plays a major part in the community and an integral part of who we are as a culture. To support an Indigenous person in this field would provide an opportunity to further build and develop this particular workforce and improve cultural sensitivity to this work.

As a Health Care provider we recognise and understand the impacts that intergenerational trauma have played and continue to play in the community. We believe that providing these opportunities will assist in this pathway to improve the visual arts for Indigenous people.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement supporting their application indicating how they believe receiving the scholarship will assist them with their studies and future careers. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, ability to meet the criteria, and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.

Applications will be assessed by the Indigenous Scholarships Assessment Panel.

Further information and how to apply can be found on our Indigenous Scholarship page.
