Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Citizenship:

  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

Enrolment:

  • continuing student

Program/s:

  • Bachelor of Natural Science (Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security) or Bachelor of Natural Science (Animal Science) on the Hawkesbury Campus

Additional:

  • be enrolled in their final year of the degree and completing either Field Project 1 or Field Project 2 units of study.
  • applicants must submit a letter of support outlining how the scholarship will enhance the applicant's professional development associated with their studies and research excellence in Agriculture and/or Natural Science.
  • applicants must submit a short, 2-page CV, including refereed publications, popular articles, conferences, presentation(s) and prizes.

E.A. Southee Memorial Trust

This scholarship is awarded in recognition of the significant contribution of EA Southee, who for 33 years (1921–1954) was Principal of Hawkesbury Agricultural College, now the Hawkesbury Campus of Western Sydney University. The scholarship’s objective is to promote academic excellence and opportunity in agriculture or related environmental sciences through scholarships that support research and/or professional development by an undergraduate or postgraduate student at Western Sydney University Hawkesbury campus, or by an alumnus of the Hawkesbury campus.

Application and Selection Criteria

Applicants must provide a statement supporting their application indicating how they believe receiving the scholarship will assist them with their studies and future careers. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, ability to meet the criteria, and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.

  • Recipients must remain enrolled at Western.
  • Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 4.
