The Graduate Diploma in Primary Health Care aims to provide the opportunity for health, and other professionals with primary health care responsibilities to gain knowledge and understanding of primary health care that will enable leadership in this field.

The heart of healthcare
The program provides a focus on the knowledge and behaviour required to be a primary health care provider in a changing community environment. Students who successfully complete this program may transfer into the Master of Primary Health Care.
You will complete the following subjects of study: Primary Health Care and its Applications; Cultural and Social Diversity in Health Care; Health Promotion: A Primary Health Care Approach; Approaches to Epidemiology; Supporting Individuals and Communities in Crisis; Mental Health for Communities; Health and Socio-political Issues in Aged Care; and one elective.

Primary Health Care Professional
Working in primary health care, you will be amongst the first contact that patients have with the health care system. You will provide comprehensive, patient-centred care such as health promotion, prevention and screening, early intervention and treatment.
Academia
University Lecturers and Tutors prepare and deliver lectures and conduct tutorials in one or more subjects within a prescribed program of study at a university and conduct research in a particular field of knowledge.
Policy Development
Policy development involves researching, compiling and analysing a range of facts that relate to the benefit of society. It involves working with a range of government agencies and community groups to pinpoint relevant solutions.

*The tuition fees quoted above are the fees for the normal full-time study load of the program (80 credit points) per annum. International students will be subject to a variable fee regime; i.e. enrolled students will be required to pay fees during their program based on the approved fee for each calendar year. Fee changes (if any) will occur at 1 January each calendar year. Students who extend their program past the normal finish date of the program will be required to pay additional fees based on the prevailing fee level. Western Sydney University is a multi-campus institution. The University reserves the right to alter the location of its programs between campuses and other locations as necessary.
