The Disability Service is a team of professional Disability Advisors and trained educational support staff. We can support and assist future and current students with disabilities and chronic health conditions to reach their full academic potential. Students with a temporary injury such as a broken limb may also be eligible for assistance.
The Disability Service helps with:
- Pre-admission advice
- Educational Support Service staff (academic note takers, readers, practical assistants and sign interpreters)
- Training in and access to assistive technology
- Advocacy on disability related issues
- Referral to other relevant services
- Transcription of videos/podcasts
- Textbooks and educational material in alternative formats

The term 'disability' is a broad term that is used in the Disability Discrimination Act (1992). 1 in 5 Australians have a disability of some type and approximately 80% of these disabilities are 'invisible' meaning that they are not immediately apparent when looking at a person.
The Disability Service can provide support to students with any chronic medical condition, mental illness or other disability including but not limited to:
- Kidney failure
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Dyspraxia
- Learning Disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia etc.)
- Neurological disability
- Epilepsy
- Hearing Impairment
- HIV / AIDS
- Sickle-cell anaemia
- Mobility impairment

- Brain Injury
- Cerebral Palsy
- Diabetes
- Vision Impairment
- Arthritis
- Cystic Fibrosis
