Interested in studying MUSIC@WESTERN?

Whether you are a player, a maker, or educator/facilitator of music, Western Sydney University can help youachieve your goals and discover new opportunities.

Our students engage in performance, production, composition, theory, education and health applications of music and can specialise in these areas through the
course of their study.

Entry is by applying to Western Sydney University directly or via UAC and achieving Band 4 HSC Music, AMEB grade 4 theory and practical qualifications, TAFE qualifications or via interview.

What happens in the interview?

Bring your instrument and your creative work/s (recordings/scores).

We can supply drum kits, pianos or other large instruments.  Let us know what instrument you play in your booking form.

If you are a ‘maker’ of music, show us your composition/recording work and perform 1 piece on your best instrument.  If you are a ‘player’ of music, perform two short, contrasting pieces or songs (or excerpts of two pieces). They can be covers or originals, performed solo or with accompanying musicians or backing tracks from your phone or laptop.

Watch our video to hear our talented students describe their amazing experience at our university.

Interviews are held regularly commencing in September to start your unlimited journey into the world of music.

You may either attend an interview for or submit qualifications for Band 4 HSC Music, or AMEB theory and practical qualifications or TAFE qualifications.
