Support and Wellbeing

Western Success

Western Success, our pioneering student support program available to all students, is here to help you achieve all that's possible during your time at Western. You’ll get peer-to-peer advice to help you navigate university.

Welfare services

The Student Welfare Services team provides free and confidential support to help you succeed, including:

  • Guidance to navigate university processes like Leave of Absence, Disruption to Studies, or Reduced Study Load.
  • Financial assistance for education-related costs, living expenses, accommodation, and emergency needs.
  • Resources for student carers, including Carers Verification Statements to balance responsibilities.
  • Dedicated assistance for international students.

Counselling services

You can access free and confidential counselling. Speak to a team of qualified social workers and psychologists, about any stress or issues you are experiencing, that may be affecting your studies, including domestic and intimate partner violence.

Disability service

The Disability Service team, includes Disability Advisors and educational support staff. If you have a disability, mental health condition, chronic health condition, or temporary injury, we are here to support and assist you to ensure an inclusive and accessible learning experience.

We collaborate with you to develop tailored support, including the development of Academic Reasonable Adjustment Plans (ARAP) and Placement Reasonable Adjustment Plans (PRAP), if needed.

Wellbeing services

Wellbeing Services at the University are available to provide general and tailored support to students across welfare, disability, counselling and mental health.

The Wellbeing Teams also provide advice and support for students who may have encountered or are unsure about interactions with contract cheating services or are facing threats of blackmail.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Team can assist with support, referrals and strategies to maintain good mental health and wellbeing, and can further connect you with services.

Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education

The Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education provides educational, social and cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, with facilities located on each campus.

TalkCampus

TalkCampus is a free app that you can download onto your device to talk anonymously to other students from universities and colleges around the world. Access free mental health support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

TalkCampus is a safe student network that’s all about support. This means you can talk to your peers about exam stress, anxiety, depression and a range of other matters. The app is available in 25 languages including English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali. 

The TalkCampus app is available for free to all Western students. You can download the app from Google Play or the App Store. To sign up, please use your Western student email address to unlock the app free of charge. 

Student Legal Services

Student Legal Services (SLS) is a free legal advice and referral service. SLS is available to all current domestic and international students of Western Sydney University or Western Sydney University, The College. 

The service is provided by qualified lawyers in the WSU Justice Clinic, who may be helped by final year law students completing a clinical legal education subject and / or law graduates completing their Practical Legal Training.

Western Pantry

Western Pantry is a free student service providing pantry staples and fresh produce for Western Sydney University students.

Community Dinners and Lunches

Community Dinners and Lunches aim to bring Western Sydney University students together to connect with each other in a relaxed environment and to enjoy a delicious and nutritious meal.

Community Breakfasts

The breakfast program delivers a free breakfast on each campus. This will primarily be a cooked breakfast delivered in collaboration with community partners and student clubs and groups as well as additional breakfast bars.
