Class Registration Methods

Western Sydney University utilises two primary methods for class registration: Preference Selection and Self Allocation. Understanding the stages involved in each method will help you navigate the registration process effectively.

Preference Selection Method

(Used for: Autumn, Spring)

In this method, you submit your class time preferences, and the system allocates classes based on these preferences.

Allocate+ Open (Read Only) You can view the timetable options in Allocate+, but you can't make any selections yet. This is a good time to review your scheduled classes and start planning.
Class Preference Selection Opens You can start ranking your preferred class times in Allocate+. This helps the system allocate you to classes based on your preferences.
Class Preference Selection Closes This is the deadline to submit your class preferences. After this, preferences are locked in, and you’ll move to the class allocation adjustment stage.
Class Allocation Adjustment Opens You can now select or adjust your class times in Allocate+. It's first-in, best-dressed—act quickly if you want a specific class.
Swap / Waitlist If your preferred class is full, you can request a swap or join a waitlist. Allocate+ will move you into your desired class automatically if a spot opens up.
Class Allocation Adjustment Closes This is your final chance to make any changes to your class schedule in Allocate+. After this, your timetable will be locked in.
Teaching This is when the teaching term officially begins. Make sure you've finalised your timetable and know where and when your classes are happening.
Automatic Allocation If you haven't chosen your class times yet, Allocate+ will automatically place you into available spaces. This process doesn't consider your preferences.
Self Allocation Method

(Used for: Halves, Quarters, Sydney City Campus, College Terms, NSW Policing)

College Modular Learning

For College-delivered modular learning class registration is managed differently:

Block 1 Self Allocation You must register for your preferred class via Allocate+ during the published registration window.
All Other Blocks and Semesters College Allocation Class times for these blocks will be allocated by the College. You’ll be notified once your allocation is complete, there’s no action required at this stage.
