Western Pantry

Western Pantry is a free student service providing pantry staples and fresh produce for Western Sydney University students.

Our main objective is to reduce food insecurity on campus by providing students with access to fresh healthy food free of cost.

Our two pantries are located at Kingswood and Parramatta South campuses, at the following locations and times:

  • Kingswood - Building O, Level 1 (KW-O.1.02) - Wednesdays 9am-1pm
  •  Parramatta South - Building EN, between Subway and the River Cafe (PS-EN.G.40) - Thursdays 10am-1pm.

To attend, please register on WesternLife.

Each student will be able to access the pantry once per week. The pantry is set up like a grocery store - you enter through the sliding doors, pick out your 5 free items for the week, then take them to the checkout counter where a volunteer will assist you in checking in via a QR code. Please bring your own bags to collect food.

Note: the pantry is closed during stuvac, exams, public holidays and intersession breaks.

Food insecurity is a growing problem in Australia and university students are at increasingly high risk due to rising accommodation costs, housing insecurity and inadequate income support, among others. All of this presents a significant barrier to student success. In response to this, we set up a free food pantry to deliver essential pantry items and fresh produce to support student wellbeing.

We stock a variety of pantry staples such as rice, pasta, oats, cereal, spreads, canned goods (canned beans, corn, lentils, baked beans, tuna etc.), crackers, pasta sauces, bread, long-life milk, tea, coffee and spices in addition to fresh fruit and vegetables. Please note that food options (especially fresh produce) may vary depending on donations, season and availability.

Western Pantry is SSAF funded and run by WSU staff and students. If you would like to volunteer, please send an expression of interest to westernpantry@westernsydney.edu.au. We also welcome volunteers to assist with putting on special events at the pantry and at our other free breakfast and dinner programs.

If you would like to make a food donation, please contact Miranda or Jelly at westernpantry@westernsydney.edu.au.

You can also choose to make a monetary donation.
