Thesis Title:
Designing Inclusive Living: A Modular Approach to Housing for the Ability-Diverse
Research Project:
The thesis explores a modular design platform aimed at enhancing housing for the ability-diverse population. The proposed platform lowers entry barriers for housing development participants, facilitating the creation and improvement of homes that are suitable for a larger population for a longer period of time. By leveraging modularity, the design improves adaptability over time, accommodating the evolving needs of individuals with changing abilities and aging requirements. Standardisation and modularity enable greater participation of end users in the design process, ensuring that housing solutions are more tailored to their needs. This approach not only improves housing quality but also reduces costs, offering a sustainable solution for inclusive living.
