Project Tests

Pallet Racking TestPallet Racking Test

  • Standard: AS 4084.1:2023
  • Location: WSU Structural Laboratory

Overview:

Experimental testing of pallet racking systems across seven test types, in accordance with AS 4084.1:2023, to assess structural performance, serviceability, and compliance.

Test setup:

Bending (frame and profile), cantilever, shear, stub column, tensile, and upright compression tests.

Panel Bending Strength TestPanel Bending Strength Test

  • Standard: BS EN 14509
  • Location: WSU Structural Laboratory

Overview:

Experimental testing of 8-metre-long insulated panel samples using setups derived from BS EN 14509, focusing on bending strength, structural performance, and failure behaviour.

Test setup:

Three-point and six-point bending, simply supported tests.

Timber I-joist Bending TestTimber I-joist Bending Test

  • Standard: AS1720.1, Appendix D
  • Location: WSU Structural Laboratory

Overview:

Experimental testing of 6-metre-long timber I-joist beams, using setups based on AS 1720.1 and AS 4063.1:2010. Focus on bending strength, structural performance, and prototype testing with a step-by-step loading method.

Test setup:

Four-point bending, simply supported tests.

High-Capacity Mine Crib TestHigh-Capacity Mine Crib Test

  • Machine: Hongshan
  • Location: WSU Structural Laboratory

Overview:

Compression testing of 4-metre-high mine crib samples using the high capacity Hongshan multipurpose testing machine, focusing on collecting and evaluating compressive strength and load–displacement behaviour of different pumpable grout or interlocking crib systems.

Test setup:

Compression test with rigid supports.

Frame Racking Load TestFrame Racking Load Test

  • Standard: AS 1684.2, ASTM E72
  • Location: WSU Structural Laboratory

Overview:

Lateral load testing of wall assemblies on the strong floor, focusing on evaluating shear resistance and load–displacement behaviour of timber or steel stud walls lined with different gypsum-based, or fibre cement boards fixed at various spacings.

Test setup:

Lateral load test with fixed base and horizontally restrained top plate.
