Health Science Teaching at Western
In this program, you can study general health science, such as human biology, health systems, health promotion and research.
Gain access to world-class facilities, including a gymnasium, dance and gym studio, sports fields, and undercover sport courts where learning to lead practical experiences are a strong feature of the program.
Enrolment in this program involves direct pathway to a Master of Teaching degree, and then on to a teaching career. Teaching opportunities can be extended beyond HPE by studying subjects in other disciplines to gain a second teaching area.
Graduates may be eligible to apply for accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority following the successful completion of a recognised teaching qualification such as the Master of Teaching (Secondary).

With a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (Pathway to Teaching Secondary), you can:
- Go on to do your Master of Teaching, and teach health education, personal development, and physical activity in government and non-government schools.
- Take on an exciting role as a sport coach or personal trainer in the private health and fitness sectors, community clubs, schools, and high-performance sport contexts.
- Get involved in communities and schools with education programs around specialist health, sport, and social support.
In this role you will be responsible for the health education, personal development and physical activity of students in government and non-government schools at the primary and secondary level.
As an Education Officer you will design and deliver education programs in the areas of specialist health, sport and social support. You will also visit schools and community groups to assist with the integration of these specialist education programs.
Sports Coaches are responsible for improving sport performance, physical and mental health and helping people enjoy lifelong physical activity.
