Dr Jasmine Grinyer is the Senior Research Program Officer (Pollination) at HIE and provides project management and research support for the suite of industry-funded pollination projects. These projects aim to investigate native bees such as stingless bees, honeybees and alternative pollinators such as flies, to better understand which species contribute to crop pollination and support crop yields. Our pollination research covers pollinator health (nutritional needs for supporting pollinators), pollinator diseases (microbial and viral), climatic factors affecting pollinator populations and on-farm practices that support crop pollination. Jasmine’s role involves liaising with industry partners to promote evidence-based research messages among industry and growers. Jasmine has previously managed industry-funded soil biology research at WSU, with the goal of enhancing crop productivity and food security. Before joining WSU, Jasmine worked at Macquarie University and in the private research sector.
Jasmine earned her PhD in 2006 from Macquarie University, Sydney. Her PhD thesis explored the biological control mechanism utilised by filamentous fungus, Trichoderma atroviride to protect plants against fungal pathogens. Jasmine completed her Diploma in Education (Secondary Science) in 2009 and maintains a keen interest in science education at both secondary and tertiary levels.
