Design and Technology at Western

Your practical experience is a combination of the University’s own state-of-the-art technologies and access to an extensive network of external industry-based resources where you will gain industry networks.

During your final year or at the conclusion of your study, you will undertake a 10-week industry experience session, giving you priceless real-life experience in developing new products within a company or organisational environment. Additionally, upon graduation you are eligible for membership to  the Design Institute of Australia (DIA).

Alternate Entry

If you didn't quite get the required ATAR, or if you're not eligible for early entry through HSC True Reward, you can apply for entry by interview in which personal aptitude, experience, and educational qualifications are taken into consideration supported by a portfolio of works.

After applicants have applied for the Bachelor of Design and Technology, they are required to book an interview and download a questionnaire at the University's online booking system. The questionnaire provides applicants further information on how to prepare their portfolio and for the interview.

Program structure

Study 2D and 3D visualisations and how to utilise them in a moden visual world. 

Students will learn about the use of the computer programming in creative spaces. This is then applied in the study of the human-computer relationship. 

Use your leadership skills to enhance your studio management skills. This major covers sustainable design and how to create change through innovation. 

Dive deep into marketing theory and gain skills in creating in a design led environment. Students will learn about human behaviour and how it applies to brand and product marketing.

*The tuition fees quoted above are the fees for the normal full-time study load of the program (80 credit points) per annum, unless the total duration of the program is less than 80CP. International students will be subject to a variable fee regime; i.e. enrolled students will be required to pay fees during their program based on the approved fee for each calendar year. Fee changes (if any) will occur at 1 January each calendar year. Students who extend their program past the normal finish date of the program will be required to pay additional fees based on the prevailing fee level. Western Sydney University is a multi-campus institution. The University reserves the right to alter the location of its programs between campuses and other locations as necessary. Students should be aware of the possibility of change of location for the whole or part of programs for which they enrol and should plan for the need to travel between Western Sydney campuses.
