How do I apply for University?
There are three ways for prospective Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to apply for University:
1. Universities Admission Centre (UAC)
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are eligible for an ATAR can apply online for admission through UAC (opens in a new window).
2. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Alternative Entry Program
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who do not have a Higher School Certificate (HSC), or believe their ATAR mark may not be sufficient to apply through UAC, can apply for direct admission via the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Alternative Entry Program This Program is a Western Sydney University initiative aimed at increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in undergraduate programs across all areas of study at the University. As a prospective student you are not required to have completed the HSC or any other qualification to apply to study at Western Sydney University via this program.
3. The College
The College provides pathways to University for people of all ages and stages. These pathways at The College comprise the first year of university degrees and are taught in face to face and blended learning modes with smaller class groups and enhanced opportunities to develop academic study skills.
The College offers two pathways:
- University Foundation Studies (opens in a new window) at The College are designed to introduce students to the skills and knowledge needed for an undergraduate degree at the University. On successful completion of University Foundation Studies at The College, students are guaranteed direct entry into the first year of a Western Sydney University undergraduate degree program.
- Diploma Programs (opens in a new window) are designed for students who have not obtained the ATAR needed to get into their desired course at the University. In a Diploma Program, students complete the same units that first-year students complete at Western Sydney University. When students successfully complete their diploma, they automatically receive one year advanced standing and are guaranteed direct entry into the second year of a Western Sydney University undergraduate degree program.
