Social Science (Psychology) at Western
This degree combines a broadly based, interdisciplinary social sciences three-year program with an undergraduate accredited sequence in Psychology.
You will gain a deep understanding of the complex and culturally diverse world we live in and emerge with a thorough understanding of how Psychology uses scientific techniques and methods to understand human cognition, affect and behaviour.
When you graduate, you will have the interdisciplinary and specialist skills and knowledge required for a range of careers available in areas of sociology, mental health, peace and development and counselling in both government and private sectors as well as the academic requirements to proceed to advanced study.

Policy Analyst or Adviser
Policy Analysts collect and analyse information and data to develop policies guiding the design, implementation, and modification of government and commercial operations and programs.
University Lecturers and Tutors prepare and deliver lectures and conduct tutorials in one or more subjects within a prescribed course of study at a university and conduct research in a particular field of knowledge.
Counsellors provide assistance to people struggling with emotional issues and offer advice and guidance. They may specialise in particular areas, such as health and grief management.

Work in the human services sector involves working in a number of organisations including aged care, community development, education providers and transport services.

The tuition fees quoted above are the fees for the normal full-time study load of the course (80 credit points) per annum. International students will be subject to a variable fee regime; i.e. enrolled students will be required to pay fees during their course based on the approved fee for each calendar year. Fee changes (if any) will occur at 1 January each calendar year. Students who extend their course past the normal finish date of the course will be required to pay additional fees based on the prevailing fee level.
