Arts and Laws at Western
The Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) program is perfect for those students who want to combine their interest in psychology with studies in other areas. In addition to covering the core areas in psychology, this program develops your communication and personal skills, as well as your creativity, capacity for independent thought, adaptability to new situations and problem-solving skills.
The Bachelor of Laws provides students with a broad progressive legal education with a strong practical orientation to the law. Students develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, research, communication, collaboration, self-management, and ethical and professional awareness and judgement. Students will also develop skills in legal advocacy, negotiation, and legal technology and extend their professional and learning experiences through work integrated learning, clinical placement and international exchange engagements.
Western’s law programs are a unique alternative to more traditional law schools, with community law activities that give you real world experience. The School of Law operates the Western Sydney University Justice Clinic, providing a much-needed service, while giving students a unique clinical legal learning opportunity.
Gain practical legal skills
You will learn professional legal skills including the ability to analyse legal material, understand fundamental legal principles, understand the relationship between law and society, and gain general analytical skills for critical thinking and problem solving.
Special emphasis is placed on the development of skills in advocacy, negotiation, legal drafting and legal research.
You may also have the opportunity to take part in work experience during your program, such as working at the NSW Attorney General's in legal aid, working in cooperative Summer Research Programs with industry, and in the Australian Taxation Office advisory support scheme.

Solicitor
Solicitors provide legal advice, prepare and draft legal documents and conduct negotiations on behalf of clients on matters associated with the law.

Barrister
Barristers receive briefs and verbal instructions concerning cases from Solicitors, other specialist Legal Professionals, and clients to plead cases before civil, criminal and industrial courts and other tribunals.

Psychologist
Psychologists investigate, assess and provide treatment and counselling to foster optimal personal, social, educational and occupational adjustment and development.

Policy Analyst
Policy Analysts collect and analyse information and data to produce intelligence and to develop and analyse policies guiding the design, implementation and modification of government and commercial operations and programs.

Human Rights Defender
Human rights defenders address any human rights concerns, which can be as varied as, for example, torture, arbitrary arrest and detention, discrimination, employment issues, forced evictions, access to health care, and toxic waste and its impact on the environment.

*The tuition fees quoted above are the fees for the normal full-time study load of the program (80 credit points) per annum. International students will be subject to a variable fee regime; i.e. enrolled students will be required to pay fees during their program based on the approved fee for each calendar year. Fee changes (if any) will occur at 1 January each calendar year.
