Would you like to apply as a domestic or an international student?

Apply as a Domestic Student

If you are a domestic student, you can apply through our Western Application system which is free of charge.

Domestic students are:

  • Australian Citizens
  • New Zealand Citizens
  • Australian permanent residents
  • Australian permanent humanitarian visa holders

Please note, if you wish to apply for any of the below programs, you must apply via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC):

  • Doctor of Medicine
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy
  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology
  • Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • Bachelor of Midwifery

Application and closing dates when applying direct to Western

Applicants who have undertaken studies overseas may have to provide proof of proficiency in English.

Domestic applicants who are applying directly to the University or through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) will find details of minimum English proficiency requirements and acceptable proof on the UAC website.

Apply as an International Student

If you are an international student, you can apply for free through our international student application system or through an agent representative.

International students are:

  • Not an Australian citizen;
  • Not a New Zealand citizen; and
  • Not a permanent resident of Australia.
     

If you are an international student completing the Australian HSC, IB or NCEA, apply direct via UAC International.

If you wish to be considered for an early offer, you can also apply direct via our international student online application system, with the exception of programs listed below.

  • Doctor of Medicine
  • Dean's Scholars and Advanced Programs
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy
  • Bachelor of Podiatry Medicine
  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology
  • Bachelor of Paramedicine

Apply early! As a guide you should apply by 15th November for programs commencing in the Autumn Session (February/March) and by 15th May for programs commencing in the Spring Session (July/August).
